Mama is song about the love that remains when a family member has passed. If a home is built on love that home can withstand a loss and build on it. Just because we can move on easier than some, doesn't mean we loved any less. Mama is anthem we can all sing.

A song told from the perspective of both a man and a woman. A man describing the woman, and the woman's request to be sang to while falling asleep. Pretty simplistic concept but enough room to have fun trying to expand on the imagery within a short window.

I got to thinking about seeing Halley's Comet when I was just a kid, and then wondering if I would live long enough to see it come back 'round again. This is just a simple folk song about a comet and how a person wonders about their relationship in the universe relative to the comet's.

What they said is a song about what they say love is. A couple separated after the husband wanted to experiment with inviting another into their relationship and the wife soon leaving after. You only realize what you have when it's gone.

Open the door is a song about an alcoholic whose wife always locks him out of the house whenever he returns home drunk. He garners an audience most of the time, and is always begging to get into his own home.
